As a foodie, it is extremely difficult to choose a favourite cuisine. I love traditional dishes from all over the world, which I guess is not a bad thing. But, if I was to pick a cuisine that I am always craving, it is always going to be Mexican food. Many people tell me that Europe in general has poor Mexican food and I probably would have to agree with that. People were just not aware of traditional Mexican food and if they did know, it was most likely Tex-Mex or other American styles. To my surprise, Mexican restaurants are slowly popping in Europe. They are not just any regular restaurant, they are full of young, Mexican chefs who have come to Europe to share their love of Mexican cuisine. In addition, Europeans have become enchanted by Mexican food and have themselves traveled throughout the Americas to better understand the cuisine. I have recently been to several great examples in London and here I am tell you about one of them: Breddos

This Mexican joint started out as a taco shack in a car park in Hackney (east London). Their main location is in Clerkenwell, but they have recently opened up another spot in Soho.

Victor and I had just attended a concert at the nearby Barbican Centre, so Breddo’s was the perfect dinner spot. We started out with Corn Esquites, a spicy, cheesy, mayo-ey dish of grilled corn on the cob. Now, the tacos. I am going to be bold and say that Breddo’s has the best tacos in London full stop. Victor and I each got two tacos which were all sensational. His meat choices were the Carne Asada, and the Pork Al Pastor tacos. My choices were the Organic Egg, and the Baja Fish tacos. Oh. My. Lord. These tacos are so perfectly balanced and flavoured. My personal favourite was the egg one — seems so simple right? Well, it has almond nut mole, queso fresco, sesame seeds, and peanuts. Yum yum!
