SPAIN

“I would sooner be a foreigner in Spain than in most countries. How easy it is to make friends in Spain!” – George Orwell

As you might have guessed by now, Spain is one of my favourite places. I’m obviously quite biased as the love of my life is from Barcelona, but since my first visit to Spain in 2015 my love for this country has just grown more and more. Barcelona will always feel like another home to me, but I’ve also made so many wonderful memories in many other parts of Spain. Catalunya itself is a wonderful place of the world with so much to offer. It has hundreds of medieval towns that hold so much charm. From Girona to Cadaques to Figueres… the adventure never ends.

Beyond Catalunya, I’ve travelled to numerous other areas of Spain. Spain is just such a vibrant, warm and beautiful country. You can find every landscape here. Central Spain offers the sweeping deserts of Aragon and the incredibly city of Madrid, along with tapas because this is the heart of small plates eating.

The sun-kissed island of Mallorca is a dream, full of sea and sunshine. I can see why so many of my British comrades visit — it’s gorgeous, easy to navigate and has great food.

In Spring 2018, I travelled to the Basque Country to explore a completely different area of Spain. The history, culture, cuisine, language… everything is so distinct and yet I loved this area just as well. The charming towns and incredible geological features really just send you to a dream. And then in Autumn 2019, I made my way to Galicia, yet another incredibly unique area of Spain. Galicia’s beautiful estuaries, delicious seafood (and wine) interesting history and unique architecture leaves an impression.
